Thoughts with Morning Coffee

Today I woke up and as I had my morning coffee, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, something evil has invaded our nation, and our lives are never going to be the same. I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life--so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone. We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind!

You can't justify this insanity:

• If a guy pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him.

• Somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America.

• Russians influencing our elections are bad, but illegals voting in our elections are good.

• It was cool for Joe Biden to "blackmail" the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquires about it.
• Twenty is too young to drink a beer, but eighteen is old enough to vote.

• People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.

• People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.

• Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.

• Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcome.

• $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.

• If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free..

• People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.

• We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.

• Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now.

• Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights.

• And pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"?!

Nothing makes sense anymore - no values, no morals, and no civility. People are dying of a Chinese virus, but it's racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China.  We are clearly living in an upside down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong but killing unborn babies is OK !

Wake up America, the great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, is taking on water, and is sinking fast.  Speak up!

Another trip for home

Today we arose, one the one hand wanting to stay longer but on the other, yearning for home.  I hitched up the car last night so all we had to do was have breakfast, tidy up the ship and set sail.

Fixer Upper with a view
On the way out of the camp ground, we pause to take pictures of all the painted stones that the owners had placed about.  Then we took one final glance around and headed down the road.

It was a beautiful day for travel....not a cloud in the sky.  The mountains were out in all their splendor.  We stopped at the "Stonehenge" WWI memorial for lunch.  After lunch, we made the final beeline down the Washington side of the the gorge toward home.  We arrived home about 4 PM and unloaded all our stuff in record time.  After parking the trailer, we ordered take out supper from Ranch Veijo.  Tired.

Geocaching Ellensburg

Up at the usual time, we headed off to Ellensburg for our last day of geocaching for this trip.  I had a big list of caches located all over the city.  We found all but two and most of them were in good shape.  We took the time to browse a very nice art museum/gallery downtown.  There was a cache inside the museum located inside a boot.  There was a lot of nice art work for sale but all of it was too rich for our blood.

At supper time, we pulled into the Taco Bell drive through, grabbed some grub, and then headed out to a local park to snarf it down.  Alas, we could not find the entrance to the park so we had to settle for a quite side street.

After our meal, we searched harder for the entrance to the park and finally found it.  One last geocache at the park and then we headed back to the camp.

Geocaching in Vantage, WA

After breakfast, we headed out for another day of geocaching.  This time we headed East to Vantage, WA. and beyond.  We crossed the Columbia River on the freeway bridge and then found caches along the old Vantage highway.  The scenery was very "canyon" and beautiful.  There were some caches that we simple could not do because they were on difficult terrain.  We finished up this side of the river by replacing a very old cache that had a busted container.

We ate our lunch and headed back to Vantage on the West side of the river.  There we paid a long visit to the Ginko Rock Shop where we handled and oogled lots of petrified wood.  Petrified wood is the WA State Gem and there is an abundance of it here.  Vantage is home to the Ginko Petrified Forest State Park.  The Park was closed but we have seen it before.  We purchased some stones and petted the old cat that lay on the counter.  Then we headed West on the old highway to find a string of geocaches on the way back toward camp.

After finding all the caches along the old highway, we made a fast stop at a Mom & Pop grocery to buy some bread.  I paid a visit to the local gun shop in Kittitas, WA where nobody wears a mask.  They had lots of cool guns but almost no ammo.  I bought a magazine loading helper that helps you when loading my high cap mags.

Back to camp....supper.  Afterward we headed out to find two more caches that were 14 miles away.  Way out in farm country.  Turns out that these two caches were the best two of the day.  One featured an out of place old phone booth with the cache inside.  It was also home to a nest of swallows.  The other cache was an ammo can.  You had to walk a plank bridge across an irrigation canal to get it.  We made it back to camp before sundown.

Yakima Canyon Road

After breakfast this morning we loaded up and headed down Yakima Canyon Road to do some serious geocaching.  The road is very scenic and runs along the canyon bottom from a point near our campground all the way to Yakima.  A RR track runs along the opposite side of the river.

About half way though our trip we pulled into a wide shoulder in the road to find a cache.  At the same time a Mercedes Benz sedan pulled into the same shoulder from the other direction.  We found the cache quickly and started to continue down the road.  A man in the sedan jumped out and started waving his arm.  We pulled up and he said that he had just hit a big rock and popped a tire.  He had a spare but no tools.  He asked us to help.  I dug out my tool bag and he dug out his spare and jack.  I had a power impact wrench in my bag and just happened to have the correct size impact socket to fit his metric lug nuts.  I almost left that stuff at home but threw it in at the last minute.  Good thing.  We had that tire changed in minutes and he was happily on his way again.

We cached on until 4:30 and then headed for the RV.  After supper we found two more caches that were near by.  We are tired and very wind blown.

On the road again

Arrived at the park

We left Battleground this morning about 9:30 to hit the geocaching trail again.  Using the new Jeep to pull our RV trailer we headed down the Columbia River Gorge and then across to an RV park North of Yakima.  Yakima River RV Park.  I will write a review about it later.

Tomorrow we are going to drive up and down Yakima River Canyon road and find geocaches all along this scenic drive.

Science indicates that there are no aliens... or not

If you do a Google search for "there are no aliens" you will find hundreds of articles to read on the subject.  I have listed a few in the links below....check it out.  These articles span the gamut of "pro" vs "con".

I think it is kind of funny that the same people who claim to be "following the science" when it comes to wearing a "Covid Mask" will at the same time believe in aliens.  Same with spiritual things.  I talked to a guy the other day who was adamant, saying, "Don't talk to me about the Bible.  I've heard it all.  I don't want to go there.  I'm not religious."  Then a few minutes later he was telling me all about how aliens came to earth millions of years ago and left lifeforms which later evolved into humans..... he was serious.  Really.

The first article below is of particular interest to me because of my interest in math and the myth of evolution.  This "scientist" goes to great lengths to explain why aliens could not possibly exist because of the incredibly  impossible odds of them ever evolving.  Then he turns around and says that we were just lucky here on earth because we did evolve. It was like we won the biological lottery over and over and over again beating impossible odds at every turn. He totally blows evolution out of the water, but then, he still believes it.  Scientists are so afraid to say the "G" word, then they accuse Christians of having blind faith.  Ha.

An evolutionary scientist explains why there can be NO aliens.
